Open Time pick ups are not subject to the 96% guarantee. Lineholders are guaranteed 100% of any Open Time you add to your line.
Example: You are awarded an 82-hour line. You pick up 10 hours of Open Time. Three hours from your line cancel, and 2 hours of Open Time cancel. To calculate your pay, first look at your line without the Open Time. You will be paid the greatest of:
75 hours (minimum guarantee)
Actual flying = 79 hours (82-3)
96% of 82 = 78.7 hours (82x.96)
Since 79 is the greatest, that is what you will be paid.
In addition, you will be paid 10 hours of Open Time, which is never reduced because of cancellations. So your total pay for the month will be 79 + 10 = 89 hours.
Example: You are awarded a 90-hour line. You pick up 15 hours of Open Time. Ten hours from your line cancel, and 6 hours of Open Time cancel. To calculate your pay, first look at your line without the Open Time. You will be paid the greatest of:
75 hours (minimum guarantee)
Actual flying = 80 hours (90-10)
96% of 90 = 86.4 (90x.96)
Since 86.4 is the greatest, that is what you will be paid.
In addition, you will be paid 15 hours of Open Time, which is never reduced because of cancellations. So your total pay for the month will be 86.4 + 15 = 101.4 hours.
*Bidlines projected below the guarantee
Example: You are awarded a 60-hour line. You are not assigned any new flying in the month and you pick up 10 hours of flying. You will be paid 85 hours. (75 hr. guarantee + 10 hours OT = 85 hrs.)
