AFA
Disaster Relief
Fund
To All AFA Members and Retirees:
We know that disaster has changed your lives in so many
ways. While we can’t stop destructive events from happening,
we can, as a Union, assist you in your recovery effort. AFA
established a disaster fund after September 11th
to aid our members who were placed in harms way. AFA members
and retirees, whose primary residence is in a
federally-declared disaster area, and who have suffered
damage and/or dislocation, are eligible for $200.00 from the
AFA Disaster Relief Fund. It is a gift made possible by the
generosity of you fellow union sisters and brothers with
AFA..
This recovery packet lists other resources available to
you, as well as provides a description of how to access AFA
Disaster Relief Funds, if they are available. If you have
any questions about how to apply for this fund, please call
the international EAP office at 1-800-424-2406.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family
during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Patricia A. Friend

DOT
Drug Testing Info
AFA-CWA members, as well as all other safety professionals
in the transportation industry, are subject to federally
mandated and regulated drug testing, commonly called “DOT”
drug testing. The document bellow is AFA-CWA’s Flight
Attendant’s Rights and Responsibilities for DOT Drug
Testing. You can download it by using Adobe Reader. If your
computer does not have Adobe Reader, you can download Adobe
Reader free at
www.adobe.com
.
This booklet answers basic questions about DOT testing. It
is important to remember that employers may have their own
company drug testing program which may vary from and be in
addition to DOT testing. The information contained in this
booklet does not cover your Company policy. American Eagle’s
drug and alcohol policy and procedures can be accessed by
logging on to Jetnet, click on Policies and Procedures, then
click on the Quick Link to Drug & Alcohol Policy.
You are strongly encouraged to review your company’s policy.
Violation of your airline’s rules may lead to disciplinary
action. You may also be permanently barred from working as a
flight attendant if you violate the DOT testing standards.
DOT alcohol testing began in January 1995 after it was
mandated by Congress. It is important to note that this
pamphlet does not cover alcohol testing. Information
regarding DOT alcohol testing is discussed in a separate
booklet.
Please review the information contained in this pamphlet. If
you have any questions regarding your airline’s drug testing
program, policies and procedures, call your local AFA
leaders. If you have any questions about DOT testing
regulations or a concern about drug use, you are invited to
call the International AFA EAP Department at 800-424-2406.
All of your questions and concerns will be confidential.
